Exposed aggregate
The top layer of cement is washed off before it sets, revealing the stones in the mix. It's hard-wearing, grippy, and hides dirt and tyre marks well. It's a popular choice for driveways, alfresco areas and pool surrounds.
Coloured concrete
Oxide is mixed through the concrete so the colour goes all the way through, from charcoal to warm sandstone tones. It suits patios, paths and driveways where you want the concrete to match the house.
Broom finish
Fine lines are brushed across the surface while it's still wet. It's simple, affordable and gives good grip, which makes it a good fit for steep driveways and paths.
Plain (steel trowelled)
A smooth, clean grey finish. It looks sharp in garages and sheds and under covered areas, but can be slippery when wet, so it's best kept away from slopes and pools.
Common questions
What's the most hard-wearing finish?
Exposed aggregate is very durable and hides wear well. Broom finish is also tough and practical.
Does coloured concrete fade?
Colour mixed through the concrete lasts well, though all outdoor surfaces weather a little over time. Sealing can help keep it looking fresh.
