Built to the engineering
A house slab is engineered for your site. Canberra has a lot of reactive clay that swells when wet and shrinks when dry, so the engineer's design (slab thickness, edge beams, steel and footings) is based on your site's soil classification.
We build exactly to those drawings: excavation, a compacted base, a moisture barrier, edge beams, steel and penetrations for plumbing and electrical, all set out to your plans.
Working with your builder and certifier
The steel usually needs to be inspected before the pour. We line up timing with your builder, plumber and certifier so the slab is ready to inspect and the pour goes ahead on schedule.
Extensions and granny flats
Extensions often mean tight access and joining onto an existing house. We plan how the concrete gets to the back of the block (pump or barrows) and how the new slab meets the old one before the day.
Common questions
Do I need an engineer's design for my slab?
For a house, extension or granny flat, yes. The slab design comes from your engineer and is based on your site's soil. We pour to those drawings.
Can you get concrete to the back of my block?
Usually. Where a truck can't get close, we use a concrete pump. Access is part of what we look at during the site visit.
What happens if it rains on pour day?
We watch the forecast closely and move the pour if needed. You'll hear it from us first, and the price doesn't change.
